It’s April! Time for Spring, and a visit from County Mayor, Jim Durrett

Okay, so it’s been Sprinter out there (spring and winter) but hopefully by the time our meeting rolls around, it will really be spring.  Celebrate by joining with us on Saturday, April 21 to hear Montgomery County Mayor Jim Durrett speak.

Durrett, Jim HeadshotA graduate of Clarksville High School, Mayor Durrett also attended University of Tennessee as well as Austin Peay State University.   He spent many years as Director of the City of Clarksville’s Street Department, worked as the City Mayor’s Chief of Staff and was Vice President of Business Development for First Advantage Bank.

First elected to the position of County Mayor in 2014,  Mayor Durrett has reduced County Attorney fees, organized a Fort Campbell listening session (which was partially responsible for eliminating severe budget cuts during sequestration), worked on the Downtown Commons Development, as well as acquiring more Greenway property.  His leadership has brought quite a few new businesses (and jobs) to our county, including Hankook, Google, and LG Manufacturing.  He has been involved in many community organizations, including the Downtown Kiwanis, the Customs House Museum, Leadership Clarksville, and the Clarksville Chamber of Commerce.

He is married to Mary Ireland Durrett, and has three children and three grandchildren.
