Our next meeting will be on Saturday, July 18th at the Wonderland Restaurant at 329 Warfield Blvd. Dutch treat breakfast will be at 9:45 am, with the business meeting to start at 10:00.

A few things to know:

• The Wonderland Café is at the same physical location as The Looking Glass but under new management and ownership. They haven’t put up a new sign yet, so you’ll still see “Looking Glass” on the front.
• We’ve had a slight change to the time – it’s now 9:45.
• You need to RSVP by TUESDAY if you want coffee/tea, fruit and pastries for $5.  There will be a table set up in the room where you can pay for this instead of having to go to the cash register.
• If you don’t want the above, you can order off the menu when you get there.
• If you don’t feel comfortable attending in person, we will have Zoom available at 10:00 am.

Dr. Byron Bush – running for U.S. Senate

Dr. Bush is a Nashville resident and small business owner.  He is a graduate and former instructor of Meharry Medical College and Tennessee State University School of Hygiene; and of Trevecca Nazarene University.  He has served the community on the Governor’s Alliance for a Drug Free Tennessee, founded the Never Ever Drugs campaign, and helped with the Save the Children Coalition.  He has served as a GOP delegate to two Presidential Conventions and as a Platform Committee Chairman for the state Party. Dr. Bush is married, with two sons and a granddaughter and is a member of Nashville’s First Church of the Nazarene.

John Dawson – running for District 67 State Representative

A native of Memphis, John enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1987 as a helicopter repair technician.  Over the years the military took John to Fort Drum, NY, Korea, Fort Lewis, WA, Fort Carson, CO, and eventually Fort Campbell, where he retired after 20 years of service.  During his time in Korea he met his wife, Kyong, and they have a son and a daughter.  As a civilian he began a career in civilian aviation, serving as a technical analyst for military airframes, and then as a technical instructor, culminating with a position as a Program Manager for airframe weapons systems.  He has served his community through the Disabled American Veteran’s Society, his church, and as a Montgomery County Republican Party Executive Board Member.

Katy Olita –for Circuit Court Judge for the 19^th Judicial District

A Clarksville native, Katy graduated from the University of Tennessee and the University of Memphis School of Law.  She practiced law for three years in Memphis but was able to move home in 2006 to join the Batson Nolan law firm.  Her practice was primarily in defense of civil suits with an emphasis on government liability, employment law, and business litigation.  In 2018 she was selected by Gov. Haslam to serve as Circuit Court Judge in the 19^th Judicial District that includes Robertson and Montgomery Counties.  She presides over civil cases primarily consisting of family law issues such as adoption, divorce and child custody.  She is married to Aaron, has two children, and is very actice in her church and the Clarksville community.

Bill Powers – running for State Senate District 22

A Clarksville native, Bill graduated from the University of Tennessee and returned home to Clarksville.  He is the founder of the Wyatt Johnson Pass & Go event which was started to get more CMCSS students to take AP classes.  His inspiration is his father, Richard Powers, long-time County Commissioner and member of the City Council.  He has served two terms on the Clarksville City Council, is a graduate of Leadership Clarksville and Leadership Middle Tennessee. He has served on many boards and committees, including the Roxy Regional Theater, the Convention and Visitor’s Bureau, Clarksville Parks and Recreation, and the Better Business Bureau of Clarksville.  He and his wife Fran have three children, Spence, Louise and Henry.
